Spicing coffee for optimal ease of absorption, digestibility, and peace

Bringing together the world of morning coffee with tarot & Ayurveda, here we explore spicing and remedials for coffee drinkers who want to acquire a gain in longevity. The health benefits of coffee are more widely known and celebrated than ever before. But why is that some do well with the productivity-boosting chemical caffeine, and others do not?

A cardiovascular animator, longevity strengthener, and focus builder, the earthy unctuousness of coffee make every cup a potential source of vitality and initiative. Relying on a sturdy nervous system, rested and stable mind and body, and a smooth digestive process, idyllic access to coffee's cornucopia of benefits is propelled. When any of these systems are out of whack or haywire, we suffer and lack the dynamism to fire the metaphorical pottery of our bodily kiln in creative and optimal ways.

Here are some additives from the spice cupboard for making the morning beverage more tasty, assimilable, and to bring about a proper and full expression of your vitality. As desired, add either in with the coffee grounds or directly into your cup at the time of preparation.

Digestives for Coffee:

  • Cumin ~ steady a sense of agitation, emotional duress, hiccoughs or gas. A micro imperceptible pinch of cumin powder will promptly help allay twisted and hurt feelings, and bring about relief from the unease of pent up gas and "air gulping".

  • Ginger ~ warm the belly fire by igniting appetite and interest in flavors and aromas. Remain curious and alert. A generous pinch of dried ginger powder for cold damp conditions, or copious fresh grated or sliced ginger root for those with existing heat, or in hot weather.

  • Cardamom ~ whiten the teeth, freshen the breath, and brighten the mood. Return optimism after a slog of toil, staving off exhaustion while assisting with the absorption of dairy, caffeine and sugar. Adds a delicious invigorating flavor to coffee.

  • Fennel ~ restore hydration to the GI tract, starting with a revival of the saliva in the mouth. Crush a few seeds or finely ground powder in with coffee to help recalibrate your tastebuds, and set the tone for a renewed digestive balance.

  • Nutmeg ~ sedate a strained over-anxious mind and clenched or uneasy digestive system. There may be loose stools accompanying distressed signals from the mind. A micrograte from a nutmeg mill, or a few grains of powder into your cup will strongly work to steady the mind and reset normal peristalsis.

  • Coriander seed ~ cool an overheated body and temperament, particularly helping to alleviate heat from the bladder and skin. Adding a pinch of coriander seed powder balances out the fieriness of coffee, as well as release accumulated inflammatory heat.

Have fun, and see you in the next installment of the morning coffee series.. Ruth
